The F-22 Raptor is the world's first fifth-generation fighter jet and entered service in 2005. This fighter jet was made by the US arms company Lockheed Martin and became an important element for the US Air Force. Despite being a pioneer of fifth-generation fighter jets, the US government stopped production of the F-22 Raptor in 2011. One of the factors that led to the cessation of production of this fighter jet was the soaring development and maintenance costs. Lockheed Martin delivered the last F-22 Raptor to the US Air Force in 2012.

The F-35 Lightning II (hereinafter referred to as the F-35) was introduced as the US Air Force's newest fifth-generation fighter jet in 2015. The F-35 has three variants, namely the F-35A, F-35B, and F-35C. Each variant of the Lockheed Martin fighter jet has differences in landing capabilities. The F-35A is the basic variant, a conventional fighter jet. The F-35B is capable of taking off on short runways and is capable of vertical landing. The F-35C is a variant for aircraft carriers. The US government spent 1.508 trillion US dollars on development costs for the fighter jet. Lockheed Martin projects that the US Air Force will utilize the fighter jet until 2070. The J-20 is a fifth-generation fighter jet made by the Chengdu Aerospace Corporation of China. The company introduced the J-20 in 2017 and is currently the best fighter jet “Panda Country”. After being in development for more than 20 years, the J-20 finally flew for the first time in 2011. After being flown for the first time, the aircraft's design underwent several changes. The changes include new intakes, a new stealth coating, and a new vertical stabilizer design. Despite some problems that arose after production, the J-20 was Asia's first fifth-generation fighter jet.

The FC-31 or J-31 is the second fifth-generation fighter jet from China. This fighter jet is manufactured by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation. This fighter jet will be introduced to the Chinese Air Force. The FC-31 is also said to be still less sophisticated than its predecessor, the J-20. Nevertheless, the FC-31 is still a capable fifth-generation fighter jet. The exact specifications are also unclear to anyone outside the Chinese military. Some foreign experts, especially from the US, suspect that the FC-31 is on par with other fifth-generation fighters. The FC-31 is lighter and more agile than the J-20. In the future, these fighter jets may be deployed on Chinese aircraft carriers. China might try to sell it to other countries too in the future.

The Su-57 is a fifth-generation fighter jet developed by the Russian United Aircraft Corporation (UAC). This fighter jet is a fighter jet that has passed all tests and meets all aspects of the fifth generation fighter jet classification. The Su-57 was first tested in 2010 by a pilot named Sergey Bogdan. Russia squeezed a budget of about 10 billion US dollars to research, develop and prepare for production of the Su-57. The Su-57 is reportedly introduced into full service of the Russian Air Force in 2020. In 2018, several journalists spotted two Su-57s in Syria.
