Utah - A dozen F-35A Lightning II fighter spurts and 350 birdmen from Hill Air Force Base in Utah have arrived in Germany, marking the rearmost deployment of American aircraft to Europe as pressures rise between Russia and Ukraine.
Birdmen from the 388th Fighter Wing and the 419th active duty Reserve arrived at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, on Wednesday, according to an Air Force Reserve statement.
Despite the recent movement ofU.S. colors and military tackle into Europe, American forces are outnumbered by the estimated Russian colors posted on the Ukrainian border. US officers have described the American troop movement as an attempt to assure NATO abettors that the US will help defend its fellow NATO members.
Colonel Matt Fritz, commander of the 419th Fighter Wing, said his birdmen were" especially trained for times like this"and they were ready to join the growing show of force.
"A group of F-35 Reserve aviators and maintainers have joined our active duty mates in their deployment to the region and stand ready to support enhanced security for our NATO abettors,"Fritz said in a press release.
The F-35s delivered from Utah are the rearmost deployment to Europe and the rearmost in backing the US Air Force is furnishing to help bolster NATO's defenses against Russia.
On Monday, eight F-15E Strike Eagles from the 336th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Wing, at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina were stationed to Lask, Poland.
In addition, six KC-135 Stratotankers from the 100th Upstanding Refueling Wing at RAF Mildenhall in the UK have been stationed to Ramstein Air Base, Germany.
