6 Russian Warships in the Black Sea, Ukraine Under Threat of Massive Missile Attack |
International Military - The presence of Russian warships in the Black Sea makes Ukraine nervous. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's adviser, Oleksiy Arestovych, said Ukraine was under threat of a new Russian attack in large numbers. Russia's six cruise missile warships are lined up in the Black Sea and are most likely preparing for a massive missile launch.
In a speech late on Sunday, Zelensky warned of a possible attack coming from Russia this week, when the European Union will debate whether to make Ukraine an official candidate to eventually join the bloc.
"Obviously, we should expect greater hostile activity from Russia. Deliberately, demonstratively. This week to be precise," Zelensky said. "And not only against Ukraine, but also against other European countries. We are preparing. We are ready. We warn partners," he added.
If they do launch an attack, Russia could retaliate for Monday's Ukrainian missile attacks on three drilling rigs in the Black Sea that supply natural gas to Crimea, the Ukrainian peninsula that the Kremlin illegally annexed in 2014.
Russia's state news agency TASS reported the attack caused injuries. The Ukrainian military has not yet confirmed the attack.
