Arab League Countries Pressured by West to Condemn Russia |
International Military - The West has pressured Arab League countries to condemn Russia amid Moscow's special operations in Ukraine. The statement was made by the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
Russian special operations in Ukraine began in Moscow on February 24 in an effort to protect the Donbass, Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.
Western countries have launched a comprehensive anti-Russian sanctions campaign and have supplied Ukraine with weapons. Read also: Unseen, Early Days Pictures of Guantanamo Camp Released NYT "They (Arab League countries) do not submit to the dictates to which they are subjected, and some even refuse to vote condemning the actions of the Russian Federation," said Ahmed Aboul Gheit in an interview on Sunday (12/6/2022) with Sada el-Balad of the Egyptian television channel.
The Secretary-General stressed that the West is trying to get Arab League members to side and oppose and condemn Moscow for "siege" Russia. Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, after the Donetsk People's Republic and Lugansk requested assistance to defend against Ukrainian attacks.

Russia says the purpose of its special operation is to demilitarize and "denazify" Ukraine. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the goal is to protect the Donbass people, "who have been subjected to abuse, genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years."
