Iran Responds To Related UAE Requests For Nuclear Program Guarantees |
International Military - State media reported Iran told the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that Tehran gave high priority to improving relations with its neighbour. It came a day after the UAE voiced concerns over Tehran's nuclear program.
The UAE's envoy at the UN nuclear watchdog on Friday said he hoped Iran would work with the agency to provide assurances to the international community and the region about Tehran's nuclear program.
"In a phone call with his UAE counterpart, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian pointed to the neighbors' priorities in Iran's foreign policy and called for more consultations to expand bilateral relations," Iranian state media said. /2022).

In 2019, the UAE - which is allied with the United States - began engaging with Iran after years of strained relations between the two.
Indirect talks between Tehran and Washington to revive the 2015 nuclear deal have stalled since March and Tehran has limited the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) ability to monitor Iran's nuclear program after a row with the UN watchdog.
A 2015 deal with world powers gave Iran relief from sanctions in exchange for guarantees that it could not develop nuclear weapons - something Tehran has always denied.
The United States unilaterally withdrew from the nuclear deal in 2018 under then-president Donald Trump, before imposing biting sanctions on the Islamic republic. Iran in turn began to renege on its own commitments. US President Joe Biden has said he is ready to re-embrace the deal as long as Iran also honors its own promises under it.
