Turkey Plans to Buy 80 Units of Eurofighter Typhoon |
Quoted from Defense Security Asia, it was stated that Turkey is currently trying to get the Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet. Unmitigated the number of fighter jets that will be ordered by Ankara reaches 80 units.
It is reported that this Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet will be used by Turkey as a "pause gauge". The intention to buy this fighter jet is known to have emerged after the Head of the Turkish Forces visited the UK.
According to him, this fighter jet is a generation 4+ and is very suitable to replace their aging F-16. But of course this will be a while, until the decision to renew the F-16 is approved by the US.
This is known to be one of the steps that must be taken by Turkey. Especially after deciding to buy the S-400 some time ago and angering the United States. Until finally, it became difficult for Turkey to gain access to upgrade the F-16 to a more sophisticated specification.
Not only that, it is known that Turkey has also been excluded from the F-35 aircraft program. Even not only there, Turkey is also prohibited from obtaining this F-35 fighter.
So this of course has to make Ankara to rack its brain, so that it still has a sophisticated alusista to maintain their territorial sovereignty.
It is important to note that regarding the F-16, Turkey is one of the countries that use it the most. In fact, this country has also operated F-16 aircraft for the past 35 years. Which is known to date, the Turkish air force has had up to 270 F-16 aircraft.
