Zelensky Claims 40,000 Russian Soldiers Killed |
International Military - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the number of Russian soldiers who died in the war had passed 40,000 personnel. This claim was made Monday (13/6/2022) when the war had entered its 109th day.
According to Zelensky, the death toll on the Moscow side is data up to this June. "The Russian generals see their people as just cannon fodder that they need to gain an advantage in numbers in manpower, in military equipment," he said.

"And this means only one thing: Russia was able to cross the limit of its 40,000 soldiers lost in June. There has been no other war in decades, they lost so much," Zelensky continued in his daily speech, as quoted by Ukrinform.
"The Russian army is trying to deploy reservists in the Donbas. But what reserves can they have now? It seems they will try to go to war with poorly trained conscripts and those gathered by secret mobilization," he added.
The Ukrainian president also stressed his demand for advanced air defense systems from Western countries. "Today is the 109th day of full-scale war, but not the 109th day we are telling our partners a simple thing: Ukraine needs a modern missile defense system," he said.

“Supply of such a system was possible this year, last year and even earlier. Did we get it? No. Do you need it? There are already 2,606 affirmative answers to this question in the form of various Russian cruise missiles hitting Ukrainian cities,” he said.
“In our cities, in our villages for the period from February 24. This is a life that could have been saved, a tragedy that could have been prevented if Ukraine had been listened to.” Neither the Russian government nor the military have commented on Zelensky's claims. Moscow has been claiming far fewer troops killed in the war than the Kiev military claims.
