International Military - Russia never stops making innovations and updates in the production of their mainstay defense equipment. The country, led by President Vladimir Putin, is reportedly still producing the S-500 air defense system in the midst of its conflict with Ukraine.
The S-500 air defense system is claimed to be very tough and superior even better than its predecessor, the S-400. In fact, the Russian S-400 has also shown its best performance by successfully shooting down Kiev helicopters and warplanes during the war with Ukraine.

Quoted from National Defense, the head of the defense technology company Almaz-Antey, Yan Novikov confirmed that the S-500 will begin mass production. "The mass production of the S-500 system has been carried out on the basis of the latest achievements in domestic science and technology," said Yan Novikov at the end of April 2022.
Russian troops will soon receive units of the S-500 air defense system within the time specified by the state order. Yan Novikov confidently states that the S-500 will become Russia's new mainstay in the air defense system. The S-500, also known as Prometheus, is a new generation surface-to-air missile defense system.
Significantly, the specs presented by the S-500 are much better than the S-400. The S-500 has a range of up to 600 km. This range is the most significant improvement on the S-500.

Russia claims that the S-500 Prometheus can also destroy a variety of targets, such as intercontinental ballistic missiles, hypersonic cruise missiles and warplanes.

Reporting from Russian Today, the Commander of the Russian Air Force Sergei Surokivin has also claimed that the S-500 Prometheus is the first generation of anti-space missile weapons. This is due to the S-500's ability to fire missiles at hypersonic aircraft that have even been modified into the airspace above the earth or in space.
