Russia's List of Enemy Countries, Moscow Imposes Strict Sanctions |
Moscow - In the midst of his battle with Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced countries and territories that are considered "enemies" or not friendly with Russia. Russia's hostility to countries in the European Union is well known before.
Now several countries are added to the list of countries that are considered enemies by Russia. The Russian government also asks companies or citizens of enemy countries to transact in rubles. Here are some of Russia's enemy countries.
1. United States
Russia's relations with the United States have been strained for a long time. These relations were further exacerbated in April 2021, when the United States expelled 10 Russian diplomats. To retaliate, Russia blacklisted senior security officials and 10 US diplomats.
2. Australia
The Russian Foreign Ministry has issued a list of sanctions against 121 Australians for spreading Russia phobia in Australia. These Australians also range from journalists to defense officials. Previously, Australia had imposed sanctions on Russia which were given to their military commanders close to the Russian President.
3. Iceland
Iceland is one of the countries included in the list of countries that are considered unfriendly to Russia. Russia imposed sanctions by providing visa restrictions for citizens of this country. This visa restriction also applies to several other countries such as the European Union, Norway, Switzerland, and Denmark.
4. Switzerland
Switzerland is included in the list of countries that are considered unfriendly to Russia. In response to this, Swiss President Ignazio Cassis commented that Switzerland is not at war with Russia. Oliver Diggelmaan, professor of International Law at the University of Zurich, said Switzerland remained a neutral country. Neutral states do not participate militarily in armed conflicts and do not support parties to conflicts.
