Plume of dark smoke rises hit by Israeli airstrikes in Gaza City |
International Military - The Israeli military bombed the area of the Gaza Strip, Palestine, which is claimed as a Hamas military base on Saturday (6/18/2022). This Zionist air strike was in retaliation for rocket attacks from the Gaza area into Israel.
Palestinian media reported that two rockets hit Israeli territory, but the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that only one came and it was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system. "A short time ago, in response to a rocket attack, (Israeli military) aircraft struck a number of Hamas terror targets in the Gaza Strip," the IDF said in a statement.
Hamas has launched rockets at Israeli civilians in southern Israel, Israeli aircraft targeted weapons manufacturing sites located inside Hamas military posts and three additional Hamas military posts. The fireball shot into the air, leaving black smoke hovering over the area, following an Israeli air strike.
The IDF said hours earlier that air raid sirens were heard in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon and in areas near the blockaded Gaza Strip.
In April, Israeli warplanes exchanged fire with insurgents in the Hamas-controlled coastal enclave of 2.3 million people, which has been under an Israeli blockade since 2007.
The fighting comes after nearly a month of deadly violence focused on the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Israeli-occupied east Jerusalem, known to Jews as the Temple Mount.
