UAE Sends 27 Tons of Humanitarian Aid to Ukrainian Refugees in Poland |
International Military - The United Arab Emirates sent a plane carrying 27 tons of food and medical supplies to support Ukrainian refugees in Poland. The state news agency WAM reported on Friday (17/6/2022).
According to the report, the move is part of the UAE's ongoing aid support to contribute to reducing the humanitarian impact faced by Ukrainian refugees and refugees.

The UAE has sent 6 planes to Poland and Moldova, carrying 156 tonnes of food and medical aid and ambulances, since the Ukraine conflict began in February. This is part of a $5 million donation in response to an urgent call from the United Nations.

The Dubai International Humanitarian City (IHC) also shipped 124 tonnes of relief supplies and shelter equipment with other international organizations in the city, WAM reported.
According to the United Nations, more than 5.5 million Ukrainians have fled to neighboring Poland, Moldova, Romania and beyond since the Russian invasion on February 24. The United Nations also called it the fastest growing refugee crisis in Europe since World War II.
As war rages on in eastern Ukraine, Kiev received a major boost on Friday, when the European Union recommended that it be a candidate to join the bloc, signaling a dramatic geopolitical change following the Russian invasion. At a summit next week, EU leaders are expected to endorse recommendations by the bloc's executive for Ukraine and neighboring Moldova.
