Russian Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jet, the evolution of the Su-27 |
International Military - In the military sector, Russia has a series of military fleets with qualified strength. One of them that had stuck out was a Su-30 fighter jet.
Some time ago, the Ukrainian military accused Russia of dropping phosphorus bombs using these fighter jets. Historically, the Su-30 was originally developed as a modification of the Su-27 'Flanker' series.
Quoted from Military Factory, this fighter includes the design framework of the Su-27. However, apart from that there is also an increase in operational power. The Su-30 is an evolution of the Su-27.
The added element is an increase in operational range as well as improvements in the quality of air strikes in all-weather conditions. With these additions, this Russian fighter jet can be used for air security patrol missions and ground attacks as needed. The propulsion of the Su-30 comes from 2x Saturn AL-31F turbofan engines which are mounted under the fuselage.
In addition, this jet has a reheat or afterburner feature that allows for a quick increase in speed. This Russian fighter jet can reach speeds of up to Mach 2 or about 1,300+ mph at a range of 1,850 miles.
On armament, the Su-30 carries the standard 30mm GSh-301 series automatic cannon and 150 projectiles. On the exterior, there are about 12 hardpoints that support built-in ammunition such as air missiles, rocket pods, conventional drop bombs as well as precision laser-guided bombs.
Furthermore, the OEPS-27 forms the aircraft's electro-optical targeting system. With these specifications, the Su-30 has better capabilities than the Boeing F-15 Strike Eagle. Since its introduction by Russia, the Su-30 has been deployed in various Russian military operations including in Syria.
Most recently, this fighter jet was also allegedly involved in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. In fact, the Ukrainian military said the Su-30 carried and dropped phosphorus bombs in the war.
