Indian Air Force to participate in Exercise Pitch Black 2022, And 16 Other Countries also participated |
Previously, please note that Pitch Black was vacuumed for 4 years. This year's exercise will see the return of the combined force in the Australian skies, improve interoperability and strengthen ties.
Quoted from Military Leak, the Director of the PBK22 Engagement Group, Captain Peter Wood, expressed his feelings when this exercise was going to be held. “I am delighted to see Pitch Black return after a long break.
International participation in Pitch Black exercises from within the Indo-Pacific region and further overseas provides all country personnel with experience working with aircraft, systems and work practices in northern Australia's unique environment that would otherwise be foreign.
Exercising with our international partners in joint air combat operations is critical to ensuring Air Force remains ready to respond whenever the Australian Government needs it."
Please note that Pitch Black 2022 is the Air Force's biannual capstone international engagement activity with key strategic partners. This year's participants include Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, India, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, UAE, United Kingdom and United States of America.
Quoted from airforce.gov.au, the Pitch Black exercise features a series of realistic simulated threats. Where this simulation can be found is in the modern battle room environment and is an opportunity to test and improve our power integration.
It also utilizes one of the largest training airspace areas in the world, the Bradshaw Field and Delamere Air Weapons Range training areas.
Meanwhile, the Pitch Black exercise will take place from August 19–September 8, 2022. Later, there will be planes and people arriving a few days before the start of the exercise.
