Russia's Su-75 Checkmate |
Moscow - Russia has finally announced the date of the first flight of the Sukhoi Su-75 Checkmate. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov.
He made a statement regarding the Checkmate Su-75 5th generation fighter to Interfax. Manturov announced that the first flight of the Su-75 Checkmate is planned for 2024.
Quoted from Bulgarian Military, Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said Checkmate already had a good pass. “Since the project was presented at MAKS 2021, feedback has been received from potential customers.
Work was also carried out to optimize costs and analyze technical solutions that would allow a significant increase in competitiveness. Commercial appeal reduces the technical risk of developing domestic single-engine aircraft.
Manturov also announced that Russia plans to start test flights of the Su-75 in early 2024. “In the shortest possible time. Work on the checkmate aircraft is now in preparation for the production of the first prototype,” the Deputy Prime Minister added in his remarks.
Previously, it was reported that the Su-75 will go into production in 2027. This was informed by the head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov in a meeting with Russian President, Vladimir Putin.
Quoted from Aviaci Online, this fighter follows a similar line to the Su-57, Russia's fifth-generation stealth aircraft. The fully movable vertical fins are V-shaped and the nose is reminiscent of the Felon.
But obviously, being single-engined, the air intake is completely different at acute angles, under the cockpit, and with bulkheads along the midline. The motorization hasn't been revealed yet, but the engine has vectored thrust with a nozzle shaft that can turn up and down.
The Su-75 Checkmate has a nose landing gear that slides to the left side of the fuselage and features the Flir at the front of the spherical cockpit, like the one on the Su-57. What is interesting is the trapezoidal wing tip. This wing is also capable of carrying the latest weapons.
In terms of performance, the aircraft will have a payload of 7.4 tonnes, a top speed of Mach 1.8, and a combat range of 1,700 kilometers without additional fuel tanks. It is also mentioned that the new aircraft is capable of maneuvering at a speed of 8g and flying at supersonic speeds.
Please note that Checkmate is a product designed for export, mainly to African countries, India, South America and Vietnam, as stated by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov. However, it should also equip the Russian Air Force itself, as experts in the field hope.
