The Russian's Su-75 Checkmate and Su-57 stealth fighter |
International Military - The Su-75 Checkmate will officially conduct a test flight in early 2024. Russia has also expressed its intention to build four prototypes of the state-of-the-art Su-75 Checkmate fifth-generation fighter jet.
As is well known, Checkmate was launched at the MAKS 2021 international air show. The CEO of United Aircraft Corporation, a division of the state-owned Rostec, Yury Slyusar explained the company's strategy.
Quoted from the Eurasian Times, he revealed that the Checkmate project uses the latest supercomputer technology. Because of this, the company was able to significantly shorten the prototype construction period and start flight tests as early as 2024.
“Now preparations have been launched for the production of two prototypes. Altogether, we plan to build four prototypes," said the Chief Executive. The fighter's international debut takes place at the 2021 Dubai Airshow in the United Arab Emirates.
This aircraft is a branch of the fifth generation fighter Su-57. According to Slyusar, foreign clients determine their needs for the Su-75 Checkmate fighter. Since the project was introduced at the MAKS 2021 air show, efforts have been made to gather feedback from potential customers.
The checkmate project has also undergone modifications and the date of the fighter's first flight has changed. He said that the United Aircraft Corporation plans to test the fighter by 2024.
Quoted from Bulgarian Military, the Checkmate's take-off weight is said to be under 18 tons and will use the Izdelie 30 engine favored in the Su-57 fighter jet. The existing delta blade plywood mockup has not yet reached the final design.
Rostec itself plans to market the aircraft, whose design is in the early stages, to foreign customers and win investment. Although, experts emphasize that this aircraft is very similar to the single-engine Su-57. The reason is, the canopy, landing gear, and tail of the plane resemble the Su-57.
