International Military - There are at least three of NASA's most advanced rockets that can be known. The United States-owned space organization often creates space vehicles such as rockets and space shuttles. One of the vehicles that can deliver humans is a rocket.
During its development, NASA has created several rocket launchers with advanced technology. Here are three of NASA's most advanced rockets:
1. Saturn V
The rocket, designed and developed by NASA under German rocket pioneer Wernher von Braun, is the most powerful rocket ever built. Inside there are about 12 million working parts.
Quoted from BBC Science Focus, this rocket has a height of 42 meters and a width of 10 meters. It weighs 139,300 kg without payload. The Saturn V has launched 13 times between 1967 and 1973 with a 100 percent success record. This rocket once led mankind to set foot on the moon for the first time in the Apollo 11 program. The mission began on July 16, 1969. This historic rocket has been retired since 1973 ago.
2. Space Shuttle
NASA has carried out more than 135 flight missions into space with this space shuttle. This vehicle refers to a reusable aircraft system. It was built with the aim of sending people and payloads into space between 1981 and 2011.
The system consists of a white-winged "Orbiter" with a powerful engine mounted on a large external fuel tank and two rocket boosters on the launch pad. This vehicle has stopped operating since 2011. In specifications the Space Shuttle has a height of 56 meters with a capacity of 65,000 pounds. The thrust alone is 7.8 million pounds.
3. Space Launch System (SLS)
The Space Launch System (SLS) is the only space vehicle that can send the Orion spacecraft, astronauts and cargo to the Moon in one mission. From information obtained from the nasa.gov page, that the SLS rocket has a thrust of 8.8 million pounds which is more powerful than the Saturn V and the shuttle booster rocket.
In addition, this vehicle can also carry more payloads with a total weight of 27 tons. This rocket is the vehicle that will be launched in the Artemis program. This program belongs to NASA, which plans to return humans to the Moon. The Artemis program itself is planned to be implemented in the near future.
