British Mercenaries Recognize Superiority Of Russian Artillery And Armored Vehicles On Battlefield |
International Military - British mercenaries recognized the superiority of Russian artillery and armored vehicles concentrated in Kherson. Ukrainian units and foreign mercenaries suffered heavy losses and were forced to hold on.
As said Mark Ayres (48) from the UK who participated in the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack on Kherson. The former British soldier worked with a Ukrainian military reconnaissance unit in the battle to retake southern Kherson. He's one of three strangers on the team.
Ayres, originally from London, had fought alongside former US Marine Michael Zafer Ronin, 34, who was also injured last week at the start of the retaliatory attack. He suffered shrapnel wounds to his head, stomach and hands. The pair initially met fighting alongside Kurdish fighters in Syria. Now, they are recovering in hospital in the town of Odesa on the Black Sea Coast in southern Ukraine.
To CNN, Ayres said, in conditions of superiority of allied forces, the main task of the Ukrainian command was to minimize losses. “They are constantly bombarding us with artillery, this makes our position much more difficult. The artillery and armored vehicles they have are superior to ours," the mercenary was quoted as saying by the Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
Reportedly, during the six days of fighting in the direction of Nikolaev-Krivoy Rog, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost 74 tanks, 81 infantry fighting vehicles, 56 other armored vehicles, 42 pickup trucks with machine guns and more than 1,290 military personnel.
