Ukrainian HIMARS From The US Can't Really Be a Winner |
International Military - HIMARS is one of the most influential arms aid packages for Ukraine. But sadly, that alone was not enough to beat Russia.
It is known that Ukraine uses HIMARS in Kharkiv, Kyiv, Kherson, Mariupol and other cities. Since June 2022, the battle has turned into a long-range attack. Ukraine alone uses 5,000-6,000 artillery fire every day.
Looking back at history, the Soviet Union often used the same tactic, which was to fire artillery indiscriminately. Even Stalin once called artillery the "God of War". The presence of this God of War actually makes Russia's current troubles. With HIMARS, Ukraine has already destroyed hundreds of valuable Kremlin targets.
"The attack was effective in destroying ammunition depots, long-range artillery positions, command posts, air defense sites, and radar and communications nodes," said News Week.
Their HIMARS also succeeded in suppressing the Russian troops in Odessa. "The Odessa war could not have been won without the help of HIMARS," said Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis.
A general named Mark Milley also said that Russia's condition is very dire today. "The HIMARS attacks are constantly suppressing Russian forces," the general said.

So, will HIMARS win the war in Ukraine? According to 19fortyfive, the answer is yes and no. Seeing the success above, of course Ukraine deserves to claim some of its victories. Even the Russians did not stop propagating that they had succeeded in destroying HIMARS. But with the few HIMARS America supplies to Ukraine, that could be a problem.
A retired Marine Colonel Mark Cancian said of HIMARS Ukraine. Cancian who now serves as a senior advisor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies said, “With the numbers they currently have, HIMARS will be operational for at least the next three months.”
Seeing that, Ukraine must be economical in using the artillery system if they intend to retake territory captured by Russia. Currently, Ukraine has only a dozen HIMARS systems in operation.
Meanwhile, their Defense Minister, Oleksii Reznikov, assessed that they needed at least 100 units. Reznikov believes, with 100 HIMARS can change the game on the battlefield.
According to 19fortyfive, HIMARS cannot operate alone forever. Ukraine needs another artillery system to double its power. In addition, they also need more drones that serve as "eyes" so that artillery attacks can hit targets accurately.
