PGZ Poland and HRC South Korea Sign Tota Strategic Partnership At MSPO 2022 |
International Military - Polish defense company Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) and South Korean Hyundai Rotem Company (HRC) have signed a strategic partnership memorandum on the second day (7/9) of the MSPO'22 defense exhibition in Kielce.
This partnership memorandum defines the scope in three areas of cooperation namely tanks, wheeled armored personnel carriers and ground unmanned systems. This signed memorandum is an important step in the Polish-South Korean partnership for the joint development and construction of a ground platform for the Polish Armed Forces.
The cooperation aims to maximize the areas of research and development (R&D), production and modernization provided to Poland and other clients. Another important collaborative step was the announcement of the location of a new production plant for the K2 Black Panther MBT which was made under license by Poland.
It is planned that the Polish military will acquire more than 1,000 tanks, which will be produced and serviced by the PGZ. In addition the signed memorandum also expands the scope of cooperation including work on the next generation tank, which is currently being promoted by HRC as K3.
Another area of the PGZ-HRC partnership is the development of a wheeled combat vehicle (Panzer) platform and an unmanned ground system (UGV). Currently the strategic partnership in the military field between Poland and South Korea is very high. Where Poland, apart from acquiring the K2 MBT, will also buy the K9 Thunder 155 SPH and the FA-50 light fighter jet from the Ginseng Country Fighting Eagle.
