Su-57 Fighter is a Great Weapon in Special Military Operations in Ukraine |
Moscow - The Su-57 fighter jet is claimed to have been deployed by Russia during special military operations in Ukraine. The presence of this stealth fighter jet has received praise from the Russian Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, who is called a great weapon.
The Sukhoi Su-57 is a Russian fighter jet that was first tested in combat operations in Syria in 2018. In 2023, according to the plans of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Su-57 will receive an engine known as the Izdelie 30. This engine is believed to bring this advanced fighter closer to the category of fifth-generation fighter jets.
The range of this fighter is 3,500km with the developed speed reaching Mach 2 at altitude. The Su-57 is armed with one 30 mm Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-1 automatic cannon.
Then there are the R-77M and R-74M2 air-to-air missiles. There are also Kh-38M and Kh-59MK2 air-to-ground missiles, and they can carry a maximum of four. The Su-57 Fighter is also armed with two anti-ship missiles as well as four anti-radiation missiles.
The Russian Su-57 fighter aircraft was also deployed during special military operations in Ukraine. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said the Su-57 was brilliant and an extraordinary weapon.
The statement was made during an interview on the state-controlled Rossiya-1 television. "We have used the Su-57 fighter jet. This aircraft is brilliant, most importantly the weapons are very strong. We tried to test these weapons, they work very well," he was quoted as saying by TASS on August 21, 2022. Furthermore, Sergei Shoigu explained that the Su-57's onboard defense was able to evade enemy air defenses.

The claims of the Russian Defense Minister are supported by similar statements from Russian defense industry sources. They claim that the Su-57 managed to hit a Ukrainian target missile from a distance.
Even so, the Bulgarian Military through its report on August 30, 2022 saw irregularities. They question whether Russia's claims regarding the Su-57 are true or not. "There is actually no evidence that Russia used the Su-57 in special military operations," the report said.
It said the missile fired at Ukraine could not have been from the Su-57. Because the Su-57 armament is similar to the Su-35. So it's hard to prove whether the Su-57 did take to the battlefield, or whether it was the Su-35 that fired the missiles at Ukraine. What is most certain is that the Su-75 has been tested in Syria. That's because there is evidence of satellite photos of the Su-57 at the Khmeinin Air Base, Russia.
On the other hand, experts also deny that Russia used the Su-57 in the Ukraine war because the number of fighter jets was still limited. "Currently, Russia has less than ten of these fighter jets," the report states.
