8 Mysterious Fighter Jets Sightings at China Air Base |
Beijing - A satellite image shows the presence of eight mysterious jets at an air base in China. According to the Google Earth database as of July 2022, the base is Lintao Air Base northeast of Lanzhou, Gansu Province, China.
An unusual array of fighter planes had appeared there. There is speculation that it is a full-scale model (mock-up) that can be used as a "bait". There are also those who speculate that it is a clone of the Chengdu J-20 stealth fighter, but has no clear function.
These speculations raised further question marks, after satellite images were uploaded by the Twitter account owner foolsball around 19 July.
However, the image was no longer visible and disappeared on September 9, The Drive said. Lintao Air Base is home to J-7H fighter aircraft of the 18th, 13th Air Regiment. If the items were intended to be J-20 decoys, there were various features that did not match the original aircraft.
The full-scale model has a nearly perfectly trimmed delta wing compared to the J-20's. The shape of the plane also has a very pointed nose.
In fact, the entire fuselage is much narrower, based on a top view comparison of the sizable twin-engine J-20. Both have twin tails, although the one on the J-20 is larger and appears to be wider.
