President Xi Jinping Come Back to Served 3 Period |
Beijing - The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Congress officially ended by reaffirming President Xi Jinping's dominance, one day before granting him a five-year term for a third term. This is the first time this has happened in China and makes Xi the most powerful ruler in the country since Mao Zedong, leader and founder of the People's Republic of China.
"The Congress calls on all party members to gain a deep anderstanding of the importance of determining the core position of comrade Xi Jinping in the Party Central Committee and in the party as a whole and establishing the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought," read the CCP resolution adopted at the closing session. Sunday (23/10/2022).
"Xi Jinping Thoughts" refers to his ideology enshrined in the party charter and the previous congress in 2017. In a brief speech at the close of the CCP congress, Xi said the constitutional revision establishes clear requirements to uphold and strengthen the party's overall leadership.
President Xi Jinping has emphasized the central role of the Communist Party, expanding state control over society as well as the economy. In his speech, he said the party, which marked its 100th anniversary last year, was still in its prime. "The Chinese Communist Party is once again embarking on a new journey in which it will face new tests," he said.
The CCP Congress also removed Li Keqiang from the position of prime minister. Li, the country's number two official, is a proponent of market-oriented reforms. This contrasts with Xi's move to expand state control over the economy.
