Russian Pilots Planned to Control Su-57 Fighter with Eyes and Voice in the Future |
Moscow - Russia's Sukhoi Su-57 seems to be modernizing well. On October 21, 2021, the Su-57 appeared to be in the air with its modernized version. More precisely, this happened at the Zhukovsky flight test center near Moscow, United Aircraft Corporation (UAC). According to him, the plane was piloted by a test pilot from the Sukhoi Experimental Design Bureau, Sergey Bogdan.
Quoted from TASS, the Sukhoi Design Bureau at UAC is doing work to further develop the Su-57. The plane was flown by Sukhoi and Sukhoi Design Bureau test pilot, Russian Hero Sergey Bogdan. The flight lasted 56 minutes and went without a hitch.

"The Su-57 fighter jet also tested the onboard equipment with extended functionality, crew AI support and the option to use different types of new weapons. The aircraft also offers the possibility to install a second stage engine," said UAC.
In this regard, intelligent crew support plays an important role in the modernized version of the Su-57. Quoted from the Eurasian Times, this intelligent crew support then allows the Su-57's onboard computer to perform copilot duties. They can also free up pilots to focus on important functions. This is because the aircraft eventually took over piloting and preparing to deploy weapons, according to Yuri Slyusar, UAC Director General.
The aircraft is also equipped with a high level of intelligent automation in combat. Interestingly, the Su-57's future plans seem quite genius. On July 28, 2021, Nikita Dorofeev, head of the cockpit department of the Sukhoi Design Bureau, said that in the future, a Su-57 pilot will be able to control the aircraft with eye movements or voice. Despite the complexity of such a system, because the human pupil is constantly moving around unconsciously, the prototype already exists, Dorofeev said.

Currently, the task is to teach the system to understand not the phrases being studied, but the context. This is so that even under extreme conditions, "the pilot doesn't have to remember exactly which phrases to say."
According to Rafael Suleimanove, test pilot of the Sukhoi Design Bureau, Intelligent Crew Support allows the Su-57 to "do everything in the air."
“Flying this plane is so much fun and comfortable. This allows you to do everything in the air. This capability, coupled with a powerful weapon that allows you to perform tasks both in the air and on the ground, in any weather conditions, day and night, at any latitude, makes it a powerful weapon in the hands of the pilot,” said the test pilot.
Suleimanov also notes that the generation of Su aircraft is very similar. Pilots flying the Su-35 can easily fly fifth-generation fighters.
