Israel Launches Massive Attack in West Bank |
Yarussalem - At least six Palestinians were killed and nearly 20 others injured in a massive Israeli offensive into the occupied West Bank on Tuesday (10/25/2022) morning. This is a statement issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The Palestinian Ministry of Health initially reported three dead and 19 injured, three of them seriously, shot by Israeli fire in Nablus.
The statement later said that two more Palestinians were killed in Nablus, while another Palestinian was also killed in overnight clashes near Ramallah. The Israeli army said it had carried out a large-scale operation with police and intelligence officers targeting a site used by the Lion's Nest group's main operations, describing it as a headquarters and workshop for making weapons.
Violence has increased in recent months in the northern West Bank, a Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967, especially in the areas of Nablus and Jenin. According to the United Nations more than 100 Palestinian fighters and civilians have been killed since the start of this year, the heaviest toll in the West Bank for nearly seven years.
"Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is establishing urgent contacts to stop Israeli aggression against our people in Nablus," Abbas's spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeinah, said in a statement.
