International Military - Javelin Joint Venture (JJV), a joint venture between Raytheon Missiles & Defense and Lockheed Martin, was awarded a USD 311 million contract from the US Army to manufacture more than 1,800 Javelin missiles.
This anti-tank missile was ordered to fill the US Army's stockpiles and the needs of Ukraine in the war against Russia. The contract includes the delivery of equipment and related services.
In addition to supplying missiles to the US Army, the contract also requires the JJV to provide production support for international customers, including Lithuania and Jordan.
Marek Wolert, JJV president and director of the Raytheon Missiles & Defense Javelin program, said the Javelin missile continues to demonstrate its reliability and effectiveness. The reputation of this anti-armored weapon is a type of fire-and-forget missile.
The Javelin is a flank missile fired from the shoulder. The missile is equipped with an infrared seeker so it can be used day and night in all weather conditions. So far, the JJV has produced more than 50,000 Javelin missiles and 12,000 reusable launchers.
