List of 6 Russian Generals Which Died in the Battlefield of Ukraine |
Moscow - Russia began to invade since February 2022. Instead of immediately withdrawing its troops, President Vladimir Putin remained firm on his war decisions despite pressure from the international community. In the past few months, there have been quite a number of fatalities between the two parties.
On the Russian side, a number of generals have been reported killed. Here are six Russian generals who died in the war against Ukraine.
1. Roman Kutuzov
General Roman Kutuzov died on the battlefields of the Donbass region in early June 2022. Quoted from The Moscow Times, Kutuzov was the leader of the 1st Army Corps of the Donetsk People's Republic, an independent Ukrainian territory. Before his death, he had ordered his troops to storm the Donetsk region settlements. Unfortunately, in the attack Kutuzov actually died.
2. Yakov Rezantsev
Lieutenant General Yakov Rezantsev was reportedly killed in a Ukrainian military strike on his command post. Quoted from the Telegraph page, this 48-year-old officer became one of the senior Russian commanders who died in the battle against Ukrainian troops. Rezantsev is known to have served as commander of the 49th Joint Army of the Southern Military District. He was killed in an attack on an airfield near the village of Chornobaivka, Kherson region.
3. Oleg Mityaev
Major General Oleg Mityaev was reportedly killed on March 15, 2022 in a raid on Mariupol. Quoted from the Washington Times, news of his death was conveyed by an adviser to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry Anton Gerashchenko. Gerashchenko published a photo on Telegram confirming the death of one of the Russian officers. To note, Oleg Mityaev is a general who leads the 150th Motorized Rifle division. In addition, he is also known to have fought in Syria.
4. Vitaly Gerasimov
Major General Vitaly Gerasimov is reported to have died fighting against Ukrainian forces. Quoted from The Guardian page, news of his death came from Ukrainian intelligence which said Gerasimov was killed in the fighting around Kharkiv. Gerasimov has a lot of combat experience such as military operations in Syria, the annexation of Crimea, and others.
5. Andrey Kolesnikov
Major General Andrey Kolesnikov is the commander of the 29th Joint Armed Forces of Russia. In the battle against Ukraine, this general is said to have died. Quoted from the Republic World page, moments after the news spread, the Ukrainian military confirmed the truth of the report. Andrey Kolesnikov was allegedly responsible for several anti-Ukrainian operations.
6. Andrei Sukhovetsky
Kiev officials and Russian media said Ukrainian troops had killed General Andrei Sukhovetsky. The 47-year-old general is the head of the 7th Airborne Division and has served in Syria. For his various achievements, he has also received several awards from the Kremlin.
