Lisbon - The company in Portugal, OGMA SA, was selected to carry out maintenance and modification of the A-20 Super Tucano aircraft for customers in the region. Embraer announced this while starting the training process for OGMA SA.
It said OGMA would be the first company in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) to have the aircraft maintenance and modification capabilities. Currently, OGMA has provided logistical support to the A-29 Super Tucano, provided technicians, and carried out demonstration missions around the world for future customers.
With deliveries exceeding 260 units, the A-29s have been selected by more than 15 air forces, including armed forces from the EMEA region of Mali, Mauritania, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Angola.
Initially, OGMA will be certified for maintenance of the A-29. As a next step, the company sees other opportunities related to the modernization of the A-29 to meet the future needs of its operators.
“The A-29 Super Tucano is generating a lot of interest in several European air forces. Embraer, together with OGMA, in the services sector is preparing to respond to the market by carrying out the necessary modifications and technological evolutions to fulfill multiple missions in the most effective way possible,” said Jackson Schneider, President & CEO of Embraer Defense and Security.
