Moscow - Russia's Defense Ministry said Sunday that its troops had destroyed seven artillery and missile depots in the Ukrainian territories of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv and Donetsk.
As Reuters reported, the guidance radar for the S-300 air defense missile system was also destroyed near Nova Kaluha in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine. Read: Germany to Soon Supply Air Defense Systems to Ukraine
“The traces of the rockets in the sky above the city could not be seen, because it was already dark. However, an explosion was heard and the walls of the building shook," the TASS report said. TASS has no official confirmation of information about the air defense missile launch over Kherson. The city government also reported an air strike alarm had been declared on Novaya Kakhovka.
"At 05:00, the air raid sirens on Novaya Kakhovka went off again. The first one. The air defense system was working: about ten air blasts were heard," the message said. Ukrainian armed forces opened fire on several settlements in the Kherson Region, including Novaya Kakhovka.
Schools and social infrastructure were destroyed, and residential buildings damaged. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian conquest of a city within the annexed territory announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin shows that Ukraine is making progress and is capable of resisting Russian forces.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this on Sunday. Stoltenberg said in an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press," the best way to counter Russia's proclaimed annexation of parts of Ukraine is to continue to support the government in Kiev.
