1. It's been around for a long time
Military service in South Korea is mandatory for men aged 18 to 35. For women, this activity is not mandatory, but it is still allowed if they want to register. Various sources say that the government has made it mandatory for its citizens to carry out military service activities since 1957 and continues to this day. This South Korean military service is carried out to counter the military threat from the North Korean side.
2. Long and Strict Training Period
In total, the conscripts will serve for 18 months in remote areas.
