The M41A7 TOW, US Missile Capable of Destroying Tanks to Ash |
Quoted from BulgarianMilitary, in September it was via its field sources that the TOW was already in Ukraine and mounted on a Humvee. The TOW is an American anti-tank guided missile manufactured by Raytheon. TOW stands for tube-launched and optically tracked weapon. The entire system has a maximum weight of 23 kg, the warhead of each missile is between 4 kg and 7 kg, and the range is over 4,000 meters. Just for reference: this rocket is capable of flying at a speed of 278 meters per second.
A viral footage on social media shows how powerful and explosive the TOW missile is. The same footage claims to be the first evidence that Ukraine has used the M41A7 TOW in the war against the Russian Federation. The footage, taken from the vantage point of an anti-tank system operator, shows Russian tanks being aimed, fired and reduced to ashes.
The TOW missile literally burned and scorched the tank. Reduced to ashes, this Russian tank, hit by a "perfect firestorm" from the TOW explosion, became unusable. This tank became impossible to repair.
Of course this is a serious threat to Russia when returning damaged combat vehicles back for repair. Because, it is difficult to find a way to repair the tank body that was burned and almost turned to ashes. The M41A7 TOW seems to clearly give a definite answer, not repaired, but buried.
