The Russian Armed Forces Begins Adoption Of The Izdeliye 305 Light Air-To-Ground Missile |
International Military - The Russian Armed Forces have begun to adopt the Izdeliye 305 light multi-role air-to-ground missile (LMUR). The Russian Red Star media reported that the missile, designed by the Valery Kashin Mechanical Engineering Bureau, has been in development since 2014 in various variants, including the Sturm self-propelled anti-tank missile. -SM, Verb MANPADS and more.
LMUR belongs to the class of high-precision air-to-surface missiles. This missile can be operated from helicopters and drones. The missile features an X-shaped rudder at the front and folding wings at the rear. The missile is equipped with an optical-electronic tracking head and can be manually guided in a fire-and-forget mode.

This missile has undergone direct testing in the Syrian war using Ka-52 and Mi-8 helicopters. Development of the Izdelie 305 took place in 2015 and 2016.
Although described as a light missile, the Izdelie 305 LMUR weighs twice as much as surface-to-surface missiles such as the 9M120 Ataka and 9M123 Khrizantema.
The Izdelie 305 is nearly two meters long and 0.2 m in diameter. It weighs 105 kg with a 25 kg fragmentation warhead. The missile has a maximum range of 14.5 km or 2.5 times that of the Ataka series and a speed of more than 800 km/h.
