US 5th Battalion Completes Delivery of Patriot Batteries to NATO in Slovakia |
International Military - 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment completed the transfer of Patriot missile batteries to NATO authorities, in Slovakia last July. This battery will join Patriot units from Germany and the Netherlands in the same country.
Admittedly, the air defense system is a strategic asset of NATO in the region to ward off various potential threats that come. NATO has taken various steps to increase alertness and responsiveness including increased intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and airborne early warning flights; activate NATO response forces, and conduct air patrols with additional Allied-provided aircraft.
The deployment of these air and missile defense systems is purely defensive and contributes to the strong shield provided along NATO's Eastern flank, the defense alliance said in a statement.
NATO's integrated air and missile defense is an essential and ongoing mission in times of peace, crisis, and conflict, safeguarding and protecting Alliance territory, populations and forces from air and missile threats and attacks.
