Moscow - Russia said that the most advanced attack helicopter currently owned by the Ka-52 Alligator is very reliable on the Ukrainian battlefield. The Ka-52 attack helicopter has destroyed 21 enemy tanks and fortifications. The Russian Ministry of Defense shows footage of crew operations of Ka-52 Alligator and Mil Mi-28 Havoc attack helicopters destroying enemy fortifications and armored vehicles in special military operations in Ukraine.
The Ka-52 attack helicopter demonstrated missile and rocket weapons, including the Shturm-VU anti-tank system equipped with Ataka laser missiles as well as Vikhr missiles. “I have been on combat missions since the beginning of special military operations, flying a very reliable Ka-52 helicopter. Our crews have destroyed 21 enemy tanks using missiles, as well as enemy manpower, and fortifications with rockets," the ministry quoted Ka-52 crew commander Dmitry as saying from the TASS website, Tuesday (1/11/2022).
The Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter is designed to destroy tanks, armored vehicles and military equipment, personnel, helicopters and other enemy aircraft on the front lines. The Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter can accelerate to 300 km/h, can carry a payload of 2.5 tons, has an operating range of 460 km and a service altitude of 5,500 meters, and develops a cruising speed of 260 km/h. This attack helicopter has a deck-based modification of the Ka-52K Katran.
The Ka-52 Alligator helicopter is armed with missiles and rockets, including the Shturm-VU anti-tank system equipped with Ataka laser missiles as well as Vikhr missiles. This attack helicopter also carries aerial bombs and containers with cannon armament.
The Ka-52 Alligator helicopter is powered by two Klimov VK-2500 turboshaft engines driving two coaxial counter-rotating main rotors. Each engine produces a maximum takeoff power of 2,400 HP. The machine is equipped with a new full authority digital control system (FADEC).
The Ka-52 helicopter can fly at a maximum altitude of 5,500 meters. The maximum and cruising speed of the helicopter is 300 km/h and 260 km/h respectively. The helicopter can climb at a speed of 12 m/s. The Ka-52 has a practical flight range of 460 km, while the ferry's flight range is 1110 km.
The Ka-52 helicopter is 16 meters long, 4.9 meters high and the main rotor diameter is 14.5 meters. The Ka-52's maximum take-off weight is 10,800 kg. The Ka-52 helicopter has a wider nose and an extended fuselage due to its two-seat cockpit.
