Moscow - A total of 200 units of Russia's most advanced tank T-90M have been sent to the front lines of Luhansk, eastern Ukraine. The T-90M tank, commonly known as the Proryv-3, was delivered directly from UralVagonZavod, Russia's largest tank manufacturer.

NTV Russian News Channel Television said that in recent weeks, the Russian armed forces had received several tank shipments. In addition to the T-90M, older versions of the T-90, T-80, T-80BM, and T-72 have been delivered to the front.

In mid-year, the Russian armed forces even received an older Soviet tank, the T-61 series, which was upgraded to the T-72 level. Meanwhile, the T-90 M tank is a significant upgrade from the T-72 tank and is equipped with a more powerful 1,300 hp engine and provides a top off-road speed of 45 km/h.

Quoted from the Bulgarian Military, Thursday (22/12/2022), the T-90M tank is very different from the T-90 and T-90A versions. The T-90M tank has the latest Kalina fire control system. Kalina's automatic target tracking system allows the gunner to lock on to the target and fire while the tank is moving.

The T-90M tank also uses a new turret. The 125mm gun used has also been upgraded to the 2A46M-5 version, so it can fire remotely controlled anti-aircraft guns. The T-90M tank also includes an additional armor plate, called RELIKT ERA, to replace the older Kontakt-5 ERA. Other improvements include an enhanced environmental control system and a satellite navigation system.

Quoted from the interestingengineering page, the T-90M is also equipped with a special layer of thermal insulation material, which is called Nakida. This coating significantly reduces the tank's visibility from radio thermal range, to provide protection from high-precision weapons threats.

The T-90M tank has a long-range panoramic sight with an additional thermal imaging channel. The multi-channel display makes this weapon suitable for operation at any time of the day. The addition of these tanks was made because Russia had lost most of the tanks that were sent to Ukraine. During the war with Ukraine, there is evidence that at least 32 T-90M tanks were captured or destroyed by the Ukrainian armed forces.
