| China Introduces New Air Defense System 'Type 625E' |
International Military - China has introduced its newest air defense missile system called the Type 625E at the Airshow China 2022 event in Zhuhai which just passed. This mobile air defense system uses an 8X8 platform vehicle.
The Type 625E was jointly developed by China South Industries Group Corporation (CSGC) and China North Industries Group Corporation (Norinco). The Type 625E is equipped with a phased array radar and infrared detection turret mounted on top, which can be folded up when not in use.
The radar system is capable of detecting and tracking low flying vehicles such as drones, helicopters and cruise missiles. As striking weapons, there is a six-barreled Gatling gun with 25 mm caliber in the center and eight short-range anti-aircraft missiles (four each on the left and right sides of the dome).
The type of anti-aircraft missile used is the FB-10 designed by the Chinese company, Aerospace Long-March International. (ALIT). The FB-10 missile can reportedly engage air targets at a maximum range of 10 km with a lowest altitude of 15 m and a maximum of 5,000 meters.
