Japan, Britain and Italy Will Soon Develop the 6th Generation Stealth Fighter

International Military - Japan has entered the final stage of conversation with Britain and Italy to jointly develop and build the next generation of fighter jet (F-X) with stealth characteristics. The official agreement will be signed at the end of this year by three large companies namely Mitsubishi Havy Industries from Japan, Bae Systems from England, and Leonardo Spa from Italy.

Japan will also consider revising its export rules that allow the sale of defense equipment abroad, Nikkei Asia wrote. Thus, the cost of developing new aircraft can be reduced and to improve the domestic defense industry.


The Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) is scheduled to start using this new aircraft in 2035 as a substitute for the Mitsubishi F-2 which was developed together with Lockheed Martin. This will be the first time Japan has partnered with Europe to develop fighter jets.

Meanwhile, Parel with this cooperation Britain will still develop their sixth generation fighter jets. The aircraft will also begin to be used in 2035.
