Rheinmetall Starts Delivering HX 8X8 Heavy Military Trucks To Ukraine |
Berlin - On orders from the German government, defense company Rheinmetall started delivering the Ukrainian military with its new HX 8X8 heavy truck. The total delivery of these 26 high-mobility hook-loading vehicles was reported to be worth 12.5 million Euros, said Army Recognition (22/12).
The HX military vehicle family is produced by Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV), and is one of the best-selling military truck lineups. More than 16,000 HX trucks are now in service worldwide.
The HX family of trucks is systematically designed for maximum durability, high mobility, ease of use and modularity for various missions. Trucks available with 4X4, 6X6, 8X8 and 10X10 drives.
The initial generation HX truck was disclosed in 2003. The first order was placed in 2004.to meet the needs of the German military. While the second generation, referred to as the HX2 appeared in 2012. The production version began shipping in April 2016. The next generation, the HX3 family of projects will be announced in May 2021, with series production slated for 2024.
Rheinmetall itself is involved in several activities to support the Ukrainian military in facing a war with Russia. One of them is through a subsidiary of Rheinmetall Zeppelin Mobile Systeme GmbH which will supply ready-made field hospitals to Ukraine.
