Russian Missiles Rain on Kherson, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Angry |
Kherson - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday (24/2/2022) was angry and denounced what he called Russian terror after the city of Kherson was bombarded by Russian missiles. Five people were killed and 20 others injured in a missile attack on Saturday morning on the city of Kherson, an area recaptured by Kiev forces in November.
"Kherson. In the morning, on Saturday, near Christmas, in the central part of the city," Zelensky said on Telegram, publishing pictures of the Russian missile attack. "This attack kills for intimidation and fun," Zelensky complained. "This is real Ukrainian life... The world must see and understand what absolute evil we are fighting against," he said.
On the day that marks 10 months since the start of the war, shelling rained down on the busy Saturday market in Kherson, where the fire broke out. AFP journalists at the scene saw several bodies lying on the ground, including a man dead in his car near the market. Another man, whose car exploded, received serious head injuries. "We know of at least five people killed and 20 others injured," Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Presidency Kyrylo Tymoshenko said on Telegram.
Although the Russians withdrew from the southern port city in November, Kherson remains within the reach of Moscow's arsenals and is under constant threat. On December 15, Russian strikes killed two people including a Red Cross worker in Kherson and cut off power completely in the southern Ukrainian city.
