US President Joe Biden Promise to Strengthen Ukraine Air Defense For Opponents Russian Drone |
Washington - President of the United States (US) Joe Biden has promised to prioritize efforts to strengthen Kiev's air defense during telephone conversations with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The telephone contact of the two leaders took place on Sunday when Washington. According to the White House, Biden also welcomed Zelensky's openness about fair peace based on the basic principles enshrined in the UN Charter.
"The US prioritizes efforts to strengthen Ukraine air defense through our security assistance, including the announcement of the December 9 in the form of USD275 million in the form of ammunition and additional equipment that includes the system to fight the use of Russian unmanned air vehicles," the White House statement said, as quoted The Guardian, Monday (12/12/2022).
Joe Biden also highlighted the announcement of the November 29 assistance of USD53 million to support energy infrastructure to strengthen the stability of the Ukraine energy network after Russian attacks.
Zelensky, in turn, thanked Biden. "I am grateful for defense and financial assistance that has never happened before given by the US to Ukraine," Zelensky said.
"This not only contributes to success on the battlefield, but also supports the economic stability of Ukraine. We also appreciate the assistance provided by the US to restore the Ukraine energy system." Zelensky added that Russian missile attacks have caused the destruction of about 50% of Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
