| China Publishes Zunyi Ship, 7th Major Destroyer Type 055 Claimed to be the World's Best |
International Military - The Chinese Navy's (PLAN) 7th major destroyer Type 005, Zunyi, appeared before the public for the first time on Sunday (22/1). The ship is expected to reach combat readiness by the end of this year.
The destroyer Zunyi appeared before the public on Sunday ahead of the Lunar New Year in Zunyi City, Southwest China's Guizhou Province, after which the ship is named. By making her public debut, Zunyi has been assigned to the PLA Navy (PLAN) and is the seventh active Type 055 large destroyer, the Global Times reported.
The PLA Navy commissioned its first Type 055 large destroyer, Nanchang, in January 2020. Since then, ships of its class have also entered service with the PLAN, namely Lhasa, Anshan, Wuxi, Dalian, and Yan'an. The Type 055 heavy destroyer is claimed by China as the world's best destroyer.
