Serbia To Acquire 5 Units Mi-35PN Helicopters From Cyprus Air Force |
Belgrade - The Serbian government will reportedly acquire five Mi-35PN helicopters from the Cyprus Air Force. Negotiations between Serbia and Cyprus are ongoing to reach a final agreement on the sale. With this purchase the Serbian Armed Forces will have a total of nine Mi-35 helicopters from the Cyprus Air Force.
It was previously reported that Cyprus wanted to sell all 11 Mi-35P attack helicopters to Serbia. Cyprus intends to replace the Mi-35PN with 12 new attack helicopters. The proposal involves purchasing six aircraft in the first phase and another six in the second phase over a 10-year period. Once the sale is approved, Serbia expects to receive its first Mi-35 helicopters this year.
The Cyprus Air Force (Cyprus Air Command) is the armed air wing of the Cyprus National Guard. The force is equipped with attack and anti-tank helicopters, surface-to-air missile systems and an integrated radar system.
In July 2022, the Cyprus government announced it would buy six Eurocopter EC145 helicopters from Airbus with an option for six more. The helicopter will carry out reconnaissance and attack missions and replace the aging Mil Mi-24 helicopter.
