Moscow - In mid-December 2022, the Russian Armed Forces received a new batch of combat vehicles (ranpur) AMN-590951 or popularly known as VPK-Ural. Now circulating photos on social media, the VPK-Ural ranpur appears to have been used in eastern Ukraine.
Ranpur VPK-Ural was designed by the Voyenno-Promishlennaya Kompaniya (VPK) company based in Moscow, Russia and was established in 2006. His figure was first presented to the public when he was displayed at the ARMY Forum in July 2019.
For specifications, the VPK-Ural has dimensions of 5.7 m in length, 2.3 m in width and 2.5 m in height. The cabin can accommodate 12 armed troops including the driver. As a type of MRAP (mine-resistant ambush protected) VPK-Ural is capable of withstanding mine explosions or IEDs equivalent to 6 kg of TNT. Meanwhile, the armored skin can withstand impacts from 5.56 mm and 7.62 mm caliber rifle bullets.
This 14.5 ton vehicle is powered by a YaMZ-536 turbodiesel engine that produces 360 ps of power. The VPK-Ural can be driven up to a maximum speed of 100 km/h on flat roads, with a cruising range of around 1,000 km.
Earlier in October 2022, the Ukrainian army managed to capture one VPK-Ural intact during the fighting in Kherson Oblast.
