Tupolev Delivers Another Tu-22M3 Bomber to the Russian Aerospace Forces |
Moscow - PJSC Tupolev, part of the United Aircraft Corporation, has again delivered another Tu-22M3 bomber to the Russian Aerospace Forces. These strategic bombers will join the Long Range Aviation division.
The Tu-22M3 is an improvement over the previous series, the Tu-22M2. The Russian Ministry of Defense said that maintaining the airworthiness of its strike aircraft fleet in long-range flights is one of the most important areas of work of the PJSC Tupolev.
The Tu-22 was designed in the 1950's and entered service since the 1960's. This aircraft is made to destroy sea and ground targets with aerial bombs and supersonic missiles, both day and night in various weather conditions. The Tu-22M1 variant began production in the 1970s.
