| Lockheed Martin Ready to Production Hypersonic Missiles for US Military |
International Military - Lockheed Martin officially announced that it is producing hypersonic missiles in collaboration with the US Air Force and its industrial partners. "We have a strong partnership and we are gearing up for production, and we are ready to go," said Jay Pitman, corporate vice president for Air Domination and Operations, as quoted by the official rite, LM.
Lockheed Martin and the US Air Force conducted the first operational test flight of the AGM-183A air-launched rapid response weapon on December 9, Pitman said.
The tests were successful and at least two more tests are planned over the coming months, Pitman added. The test was conducted at Edwards Air Force Base in California as the first flight test of an operational prototype of the US air-launched hypersonic missile. Air Force officials say it serves all of its purposes, according to published reports.
