Russian Troops Successfully Destroy Ukraine's Anti-Aircraft Radar System |
Moscow - Russian troops managed to destroy Ukraine's Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile system, S-300 radar and counter-battery radar station made in the United States (US) over the past few days. This was announced by the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, Monday (6/3/2023). "In the residential area of Troitskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic, the Ukrainian Buk-M1 self-propelled anti-aircraft missile system was destroyed," Konashenkov said, as quoted by the TASS news agency.
“In the area of the Andreyevka community in the Donetsk People's Republic, a guidance radar of a Ukrainian S-300 surface-to-air missile system was removed. In addition, the US-made AN/TPQ-37 anti-battery radar station was destroyed near the settlement of Gulyaipole in the Zaporozhye Region," the spokesman continued.
Konashenkov also explained that, in the last 24 hours, operational/tactical and military aviation, missile and artillery forces of Russian troop groups attacked 86 Ukrainian artillery units in firing positions, manpower and equipment in 117 areas.
According to him, Russian warplanes shot down Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jets and Mi-8 helicopters while Russian air defenses downed Ukrainian MiG-29 fighters over the past few days. “A Russian Air Force fighter shot down a Su-27 of the Ukrainian Air Force during an air battle near the community of Trudoolenovka in the Zaporozhye Region. In addition, a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter crashed near the settlement of Novopavlovka in the Donetsk People's Republic," Konashenkov said.
"Also, Russian air defense forces shot down a MiG-29 fighter jet of the Ukrainian Air Force near the city of Krasnoarmeysk in the People's Republic of Donetsk," the general added.
Russian troops attacked Ukrainian army units in the Kupyansk area, eliminating more than 40 Ukrainian soldiers in recent days. "In the Kupyansk direction, attack aircraft and military aviation and artillery from the western battle group attacked enemy units in the area near the settlements of Timkovka in the Kharkov and Novosyolovskoye Regions of the Lugansk People's Republic," the spokesman said.
