Apart from being supported by the strength of its soldiers, the US also has a lot of sophisticated weaponry with amazing capabilities.
Of the many, one that is quite interesting is the B-52 Stratofortress bomber. Quoted from the Eurasian Times, the B-52 Stratofortress is a legendary United States bomber. This bomber has been used by the US Air Force since its introduction in the 1950s or during the height of the cold war.
Even though it's been quite a while, this aircraft always gets the latest updates so it won't be out of date. Most recently, it was reported that the bomber would receive a new F130 turbofan engine to replace the outdated TF33 engine.
In a press release released March 1, 2023, Rolls-Royce said it had tested the F130 engine under the USAF's Commercial Engine Replacement Program (CERP).
Looking at its history, B-52 Stratofortress has entered the age of about 70 years and is showing signs of aging. However, the USAF wanted to fly them for decades to come. Related reports indicate that the new F130 engines will give the US bombers fuel efficiency, increased range, better performance, and a number of other improvements.
Despite its relatively old age, the B-52 Stratofortress remains the mainstay of the United States Air Force (USAF). This is because the role can carry more weapons and is suitable for long-range missions from bases in the Pacific.
On performance, the bomber could fly at high subsonic speeds at altitudes of up to 5,000 feet. Meanwhile, for default is 32,000 kg of nuclear or conventional weapons supported by high-class navigation capabilities.
In addition to the new engine, the B-52 Stratofortress will also receive a modernized radar. Later, they will be equipped with Raytheon AN/APG-79 which is claimed to be more capable than its predecessor.
