International Military - The United States (US) M113 tank is a historic tank for the American Army (AD) in the Vietnam war, in 1962. This tank was used to transport US troops to Vietnam.
M113 is an armored vehicle used by the US Army, during the Vietnam War. This tank was nicknamed the Green Dragon and was the most feared by the Viet Cong. Compared to other armored vehicles, the M113 is much lighter but thick enough, so it can protect troops from small and light caliber fire.
The M113 tank was commonly used by American Army troops to destroy shrubs and trees, as well as attack Vietnamese troops. However, the M113 is no longer used by the American Army on the front lines.
US troops are currently using more M2 and M3 Bradley Infantry fighting vehicles. However, the M113 is still used for ambulances, mortar carriers, mechanic vehicles, and command vehicles.
Although no longer used in the front line, as many as 80,000 M113 of various types have been made and are used by more than 50 countries around the world. Until 2018, the US Army has retired the entire M113 family and replaced them with Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicles (AMPV) which are more sophisticated and in accordance with the needs of the current war.
The M113 tank was first introduced in 1956. During the Vietnam war, this armored vehicle was transported by C-130 Hercules transport aircraft. The M113 generally uses a 12.7mm M2 Browning machine gun placed above the commander's section. This weapon is quite accurate in destroying opponents on the ground, as well as low-flying aircraft.
Apart from the M2 Browning, the M113 can also use the Mk-19 Automatic Grenade Launcher, the M60 Machine Gun, and the 7.62mm Rheinmetall MG3, 20mm-105mm Canons, and the M47 Dragon Integrated Anti-Tank Missile.
