US Gives Contract $7.8 Billion To Lockheed Martin For Procurement of 126 F-35 Fighter Jets |
Washington - The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) awarded a USD 7.8 billion contract to Lockheed Martin for the procurement of 126 F-35 fighter jets. This is part of the completion of a $30 billion contract to supply the US Military and its allies with the stealth fighter, the Pentagon said. That final installment payment will result in a total of 398 F-35s.
The latest batch of these includes 77 aircraft for the US Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps. The remainder went to allies Italy, Japan, Britain, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland and Denmark.
The Pentagon itself has announced the procurement of F-35s with a total of 3,000 units worth USD 412 billion for the US Military and other countries.
Meanwhile Lockheed Martin stated, the F-35 accounted for 26% of the company's sales of 15.1 billion USD in the first quarter of this year. As of March 30, 2023, a total of 899 F-35 jets have been delivered to customers in the US and domestic customers.
